Top ideas for canapés

With the arrival of warm weather, we are more and more inclined to spend time with our friends, and what could be better being in good company and having fine snacks in the comfort of your home or your own garden or terrace? If you don't want to spend a lot of time cooking and preparing meals, finger food is still one of the most interesting trends both in restaurants and at home parties, so with a little imagination, time and right ingredients, you can prepare canapé snacks that will delight just about everyone!

A canape is actually a small savory snack served with a drink, and the original French canape sandwiches consisted of a slice of bread fried in butter with salted anchovies on it.

Today, when we talk about canapes, we mean all savory appetizers that have a base with ingredients on top, the size of one or two bites, and can be hot, cold, simple, more complex, visually creative, whatever you want.

If you are thinking about making creative snacks that will delight your friends or family, here are several interesting ideas for canapé sandwiches that can - and we hope will - serve as great inspiration.

Canapé cottage cheese – rustica corn bread and cottage cheese

Simple is always the best. Slice freshly baked, crispy Pan-pek rustica corn bread into thin pieces and spread cottage cheese on top, with some cherry tomatoes and chives as a final decoration.  Simple, tasty, crunchy and creamy at the same time. You can use different variety of cheese, more mature and aromatic ones as well.

Canapé hummus – dark rustic baguette and hummus

Hummus is one of the most popular Middle Eastern spreads, which is becoming increasingly popular in our country, and you can buy it ready-made or make it yourself, it's not complicated. Chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, sesame seeds and lemon juice are the basic ingredients of this spread, and after briefly frying sesame seeds in olive oil, simply blend all the ingredients in a blender until you get a smooth, creamy mixture. You can spread hummus prepared this way on Pan-pek dark rustic baguette cut into slices, and on top you can add - if you wish - feta cheese, olives, sun-dried tomatoes or fresh cucumbers and tomatoes.

Canapé avocado – French rustic bread and avocado

If you want to offer your guests something more modern and fresh, avocados have been a real hit in recent years. In combination with French rustic bread from Pan-pek, prepare tasty avocado bites – mash a ripe avocado with a fork, season and sprinkle with lemon juice to keep it green and spread over slices of French bread. You can also add some cottage cheese, tomato, sprinkle with sesame or other seeds or, instead of mashing avocado with a fork, cut it into slices.

Canapé kulen - Slavonian bread and kulen

If you crave a bit stronger, more flavored canapé, you can combine Pan-pek Slavonian bread, round bread with a golden brown crust lightly cracked on top, with favorite Slavonian delicacy kulen. Few slices of kulen on Slavonian bread cut into bite-sized pieces and cherry tomatoes or peppers on top – enough for a visually interesting, more intensely flavored canapé.

In addition to these ideas, you can also include other favorite ingredients, vegetables, salami, cheese, and even fruit in your canapé snacks and delight your loved ones with delicious snacks. And of course, keep in mind that a good base is the key to success - in this case it's all about finely baked, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, bread, waiting for you in all Pan-pek stores. Choose the one that best suits your needs and put together delicious little snacks for your spring get-togethers.
